Hello, everyone!

Due to community shutdowns and concerns over the spread of COVID-19, the Swanton Public Library will be closed to the public until further notice starting Saturday, March 14th. We are ending our Sunday hours early as well.

However, the librarians will still be on hand to help you with questions via our Facebook, Instagram, and over the phone during our normal opening hours. Our digital offerings through our webpage, as well as the Ohio Digital Library, are also still available.

Check out photos from our lunar family night! Participates celebrated the 50th anniversary of the launch of the moon-landing mission Apollo 11. Stellar fun, food, games, crafts, caricatures by Don Lee, and more was included, and photographer Rebecca Lynn took some amazing space photos. Check them out here!  

Youth Summer Reading: Register to read for 500 minutes (8 hours, 20 minutes) between June 3 & July 26. Any age up through fifth grade can participate in the children’s division. Participants can read aloud to someone else, have someone read to them (audiobooks count!), or read by themselves. Winners get prizes and their names entered in the Grand Prize Drawing on July 26. Toddlers can sign up with their guardians to do an activity sheet instead. Children can also attend free weekly parties for fun and prizes.

It’s movie time! First, join us between 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, October 20 to watch select episodes of the creepy classic The Twilight Zone. Then, on Tuesday, October 30 – the eve of All Hallow’s Eve! – it's movie day at the library! Preschoolers are invited to see an episode from The Littlest Pet Shop: Halloween Fest at 10:30 am; families can watch the Goosebumps movie at 4:00 pm; adults are invited to see the 2015 remake of Poltergeist at 6:00 pm. Popcorn and drinks included! Join us – if you dare!

Position: Library Assistant. 15 – 20 hours per week, including evenings and weekends

Description: Duties include operating the circulation desk, assisting patrons, shelving, collecting the book drop, and processing collection materials. Qualifications include customer service skills, verbal skills, knowledge of basic clerical duties, and computer skills. High school diploma or GED equivalent and background check required. EOE.

The Swanton Library is proud to announce our second annual Easter Egg Hunt! After a large response from the community last year, the library has invested more into this year’s egg hunt, with a whopping 1,000+ eggs filled with candy.  As an added bonus, five special eggs will each contain a golden ticket.  The lucky persons who find a golden ticket will be awarded a special prize. Join in the fun at Pilliod Park (next to the library) on Thursday, March 29 at 4:00 pm. We will also premier the newest StoryWalk book for the Hunt, with new fasteners to hold the pages.
