Virtual Book Club for grades K-5

Big Dog and Little Dog/Perrazo y Perrito by Dav Pilkey

Virtual Book Clubs

Our virtual do-it-at-home book clubs for all ages continue! The best part? Everyone who participates gets to keep the book! Pick up your free book and activity packet by visiting the library! Every book comes with a blank review form, a few questions you can think about, and a small craft or activity that ties into the book. All we ask is that you read the book: do as much or as little of the rest of it as you want. No matter how much you do, the book is yours!

The books are:

  • Grades K-3: Big Dog and Little Dog/Perrazo y Perrito by Dav Pilkey. "Big Dog and Little Dog are canine companions who stick together through thick and thin. In this, their first bilingual adventure, Big Dog and Little Dog are hungry! And as any good dog knows, friends who chow down together nap together."
  • Grades 3-5: The Littles by John Peterson. "Meet the Littles, a family like any other but with a few tiny differences! They live in the walls of the Bigg family house where they get everything they need. In return they make sure the Bigg house is always in good repair. When the Biggs go away for the summer the Newcombs come to stay in their house. And the Newcombs are slobs! The mess the Newcombs make attracts one of the Littles biggest enemies: mice! Just when it seems like things can't get any worse, they bring a cat to live with them. How will this little family get out of such big trouble?"

We have a post for each book on https://www.splyouth.org for anyone who wants to discuss the book or comment on any of the questions or activities. If you’d prefer not to go online, fill out the included review sheets and get them back to the library, and we can post your comments for you! Even better, everyone who either posts on our site or brings back anything included with the book – even if it’s just a picture of the craft you did – will also get a small prize at the library!

See the books for grades 5-8 and 9-12.
