Summer Reading starts June 1! 

Our theme for SRP 2026 is “Unearth a Story,”  celebrating stories found underground from dinosaurs to cave art to gemstones and more! SPL’s program kicks off Monday, June 1 with the Ice Cream Party – come anytime between noon and 2:00 pm! Preschoolers, kids, and teens are challenged to read for 500 minutes during the summer for fun and prizes, as well as have fun at the library every week. MAY STORYTIMES

Storytime for preschoolers is held at 10:45 am on Tuesdays. Books, crafts, fingerplays, and more! Children 2 and younger must be accompanied by a guardian.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

Congratulations to Baylor, who read her first 100 books, and to Levi, who reached 500! This program is a nationwide challenge encouraging parents and caregivers to read aloud to their children. Pokémon Club

Are you a fan of Pokémon? Do you like the games? The show? The cards? Pokémon Go? Any of it? All of it? Then SPL’s Pokémon Club is for you – no matter what it is, we’ve got it! Join the club at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 2 to make your own Pokémon card!

 

STEAM CLUB EVENTS!

Join us Fridays at 4:15 pm for fun with community partners, science, and more! Grades K-12.

  • May 1STEAM Kits. Pick up a kit to take home or do at the library.
  • May 8 Clay Creation. Paint or mold with clay!
  • May 15Built It! Build challenges with Legos® and more! 
  • May 22Objects in Motion. Experiment with motion and physics.
  • May 29DNA Necklaces. Get ready for Summer Reading Program by making wearable DNA necklaces!

 

Interested in joining BOLT (Board of Library Teens)? The next meeting is at a new time this month! Join BOLT at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, May 5. Pick up an application at the library and bring it to the meeting. Members help with book selection and party planning and eat snacks! Grades 5-12.

 

Teen Clubs

  • Club Club Afterschool for Teens: Every day after school from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Join us up through May 22 to enjoy snacks, crafts, work on homework, or just hang out together. 
  • Prism Club: Tuesdays, May 12 and 26 at 3:30 pm. Participants are encouraged to bring questions and an open mind, and be ready to play games and talk about your favorite pride reads.
  • Retro Anime Club: Join us from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm on Wednesday, May 27, to watch episodes of older (but great!) anime chosen by the attendees. Japanese snacks included!
